AG&P-BHFY MARINE BULKHEAD

Atlantic Gulf Pacific Co. of Manila or AG&P, which hold 20% equity and own the land where the plant is located, gave BHPI the permission to use the Marine Bulkhead for load-out of Modular components/shop assembled units; and receipt of shipped goods, materials and equipment. BHFY has a total sea frontage of about 1,000 meters. The tidal variation at Batangas bay from the lowest to the highest water level is approximately one (1) meter and occurs once daily for almost all the days of the year. The water depth at the face of the bulkhead is 10.7 meters(35 feet) and, only a few hundred meters offshore, the water deepens to 20 meters or more. The height of the bulkhead from the mean low water level is 2.7 meters(9 feet). The load out quay/bulkhead is 240 meters(780 feet) wide and protrudes westwards 45 meters(146 feet) from the west shoreline of the BHFY. It is constructed of heavy circular steel piles driven to depth of 20 meters with concrete pile caps designed to absorb the load out of the heaviest structure weighing more than 35,000 metric tons. The ultra heavy-duty bulkhead also enables the berthing of very large ocean-going vessels during unloading of materials intended for BHPI.

UNLOADING AND STORAGE OF CUSTOMER'S MATERIALS

The Batangas International Seaport, located only 16 kilometers from BHPI plant, is one of the main ports of entry in the Philippines. This port can accommodate 20,000 DWT vessels. United Coconut Chemicals Inc.’s private port, which is located two (2) kilometers from BHPI plant, can accommodate two (2) large ocean-going vessels of 30,000 DWT capacity each. Purchased or Customer-supplied materials in bulk can be delivered directly to Batangas and can be unloaded from carrier vessels either at Batangas International Sea-Port, United Coconut Chemicals private port (by special arrangement) or at AG&P-BHFY’s bulkhead. Materials delivered in small quantities requiring urgent shipment can be unloaded at the Manila Pier and can be transported to Batangas plant on trucks or trailers. Likewise, air cargo can be unloaded at the Manila International Airport. It takes about two (2) hours by car from Manila to Batangas. Materials handling in the plant are by means of truck mounted mobile cranes, forklifts, trucks and carts depending on the weight and bulkiness of the materials. The plant has the necessary personnel to receive and assume control of all customer-supplied materials. BHPI quality control engineers/inspectors together with the production engineers conduct inspection of all incoming materials and check if the items conform with the material certification, commercial invoices and purchase orders. Materials can be stored above ground on either flat or platform type skids. Adequately covered storage area is available for special / delicate materials. The plant is entirely fenced around and well-guarded 24 hours a day for maximum security.
