STRESS RELIEVING SERVICES

     Tubes belonging to P-3 (1/2 Mo, tensile strength greater than 55 kg/mm 2) and above is advisable to undergo post weld heat treatment to:

• Reduce "locked-in" stresses at the heat-affected zones
• To reduce distortion during subsequent assembly and installation
• To enhance corrosion resistance
  
         The furnace should be of the multiple burners with controls to be able to:
  
  
• Heat the complete assembly as a unit
• Control the rate of increase/decrease in temperature of the furnace
• Maintain a relatively uniform temperature inside the furnace (difference in temperature at points 15 feet apart should not be greater than 50 C.
